The Incarnation was written to be performed alongside a production of Dorothy Sayers' play "Kings in Judaea" directed by Ruthie Buescher. Drawing from themes in the play, the music was conceived of as a sonic landscape of pain, brokenness, and darkness into which light is thrust. NASA space recordings of Kepler Star KIC 1268220C (light curve waves converted to audio) add a cosmic scale to the music, while finger-picking and harmonic techniques on the guitar offer intimacy and warmth.
